VPN- Virtual Private Network | Explained | Benefits and Use

vpn

VPN stands for virtual private network. First of all what is a network: For example in your home you have a modem or router for your internet connection and beside that you have a laptop, a mobile phone and a smart TV. Now if you are sending something wirelessly to your smart TV or to your laptop, this is a network but it is your internal network there is no link to the outside world internet.

Now think if you go to a website for example you are viewing this blog now, so where is it saved? It is saved in any data-center of blogger which can be any where in the world for example it can be in US, UK, France, India, etc. and you are pulling this website from that particular place. Whenever you request for anything on internet, for example you search google.com then your request goes to the server that page is stored through your router and then server sends the data to you and you are able to view the homepage of google.com on your screen.

So here any device like routers, modems, hubs or any website is assigned with a particular address and all the work is done through that address. Here your IP address goes to that server and then provides your request (page).
It has both beneficial and harmful aspects:
Benefit- with this technique you can use internet and this is the process which makes the complete internet.

But there are much harms-

1.)   Your internet provider can track where you are browsing, on which sites you are visiting because they know your IP address and they know on which IP address you are sending requests.
hacked

2.) Your government can keep an eye on your records.

3.) If you are using a open wifi network than your data can be leaked, If an expert or hacker is providing that wifi network than they can use your IP address and can block your privacy.

So here the VPN comes to work, with the help of VPN you can prevent above mentioned harms. When you connect to a VPN server far away from you, that can be anywhere in the world then the connection between you and that server is completely encrypted. Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) and your government are not able to check your records. So the request placed by you directly goes to that VPN server and if someone tries to sniff your packets he won’t be able to leak any data because VPN server is completely encrypted.

In this way you can use content of another region than yours. If any website is blocked in your region then you can access them through VPN, You can acess any service blocked by any provider in your region. Most important is that you can use the whole content securely, no one can keep an eye on your content and won’t be able to stole your passwords or any other documents.

How to get a VPN network:-

You can find a lot of VPN services on Playstore, Appstore and internet. Some of them are free and some are paid. In free VPN services browsing speed is somewhat slower and security also becomes a question mark, your VPN service provider can stole your data but if you use a paid VPN service then everything is secure. You can buy monthly plans, plans according to data and many that are available.
